Recipe: Almond Chai Nog

It's never too late in the winter for some good ol' Chai Nog!

If done right, the holiday season is the gift that keeps on giving, and this is one of those "miracle" recipes that we're looking forward to drinking year-round for a warm and happy belly.

The almond base of the chai provides an ample source of Vitamin E, an antioxidant known to support skin and cardiovascular health, and weight management. The dash of cinnamon, too like the almonds, stimulates blood sugar regulation.

 

For the Almond Chai.

  • 1 cup almonds
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cardamom
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • ½ tsp grated nutmeg
  • 1 tsp Maple Syrup or raw honey

Place all ingredients into your blender and blend until smooth. Pour through a fine mesh strainer or nut sack (the Almond Chai can be heated as a warm drink on its own).

For the complete Nog.

  • ½ pint of Almond Chai
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 2 medjool dates
  • 1 scoop protein powder (optional)
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp maca (optional)
  • 4 ice cubes

Place all ingredients in the blender, blend until smooth and frothy, and serve. This is especially gorgeous with the wonderful taste of Christmas. Set a goal of perfecting your mix by then!
